Jacob A. Hopkins, 29, Bartholomew County, IN
(FOX59, WXIN-TV)

After finding a bag of drugs at Bartholomew County Jail, a former jailer conspired with a former Columbus police officer to lie about where the drugs were found and to attribute them falsely to an inmate, according to a probable cause affidavit. Former CPD Patrolman Matthew R. Stephenson, 28, and former jailer Jacob A. Hopkins, 29, were charged Tuesday with conspiracy to commit dealing cocaine, a Class B felony, and official misconduct and obstruction of justice, both Class D felonies. Although they are not accused of selling cocaine, Stephenson and Hopkins were charged with dealing, because Indiana law defines delivering drugs to another person as dealing the drug.
