LANSING, Mich (WLMI) A former state Senator is charged with several sex crimes involving children. 63-year old Phillip Arthurhultz of Lansing was arraigned on a number of charges involving children under the age of 16. Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings, the Third says the charges involve middle-school aged children. Officials are now investigating whether there are other victims. Arthurhultz was jailed on a 150-thousand dollar bond—he faces up to 10-years in prison, if convicted. He represented the Muskegon area from 1979 to 1994—he also served on the Liquor Control Commission between 1995 and 1998. He resigned from that post following an investigation into questionable spending practices.
